November 1 and 2 mark the Day of the Dead celebration (Dia De Los Muertos) in Mexico, a joyful celebration honoring the lives of the deceased and the continuation of life.

This year, the Embassy Suites Hotel and Spa in Albuquerque, NM sponsored "The Day of the Tread," a fun-filled bicycle race benefiting the Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation and Casa Esperanza.

So many people contributed their time and effort to make this a fantastic cycling experience. From the many costumed volunteers and riders, to the delicious food, to the fantastic music along the route, this race was awesome.

To my arch enemy, Batman: Congratulations on your victory! I hope to see you at next year's race. Keep pedaling!

The Embassy Suites Hotel and Spa Balloon is inflated before the race start.

We love the Bug on Back costumes!

Tricore, a neighbor of Embassy Suites, was one of the event sponsors, and opened their parking lot to the 450 bicyclists.

Great nose, Janet!

Batman in his Batmobile

The race is on, Batman is ahead!

Perfecting the art of taking pictures behind my back while cycling.

These views were reminiscent of the Fiesta de Albuquerque Half Marathon, run along this same trail.

In the distance, (past the sexy, heterosexual guy on the left) the Green Fairy is seen heading for the 50 mile turn around.

Paulo and his group entertain the cyclists at the 25 mile turn around.

Great ghoulish race volunteer spirit.

Casa Esperanza volunteers cared for cyclists along the route.

The Casa Esperanza Women

The view to the East. Taking pictures while cycling became easier with practice.

The race finishes, and my arch enemy Batman poses for his victory picture.
I will catch you next year, Batman!
Thank you for the fun!
